Facebook Sourcing Anyone?
Should I post recruiting stuff on Facebook?
Yes because its free and you have nothing to lose. But it depends. If you look like a desperate recruiter and are posting "company propaganda with the usual picture of smiling girls" then you probably wont get any responses. (or maybe you will but from desperate perverts)
But the best way to create word of mouth is if you truly have something good to say about the company you work at and if all your employees do the same AND IF you all really meant it. Remember, people know when you are lying or when they are being sold to. And they dont like it.
Honesty (in my opinion) is the best way to build your employer brand online.
Here's what I would do. I'd incentivize my employees to write quick stories or anecdotes of why they like working at my company. Something simple like free donuts and coffee will do. Then choose the best stories and ask them to post. Then I'd keep this going out every week or every month just to build consistency.
Worried about employees posting bad stuff? Well this tactic wont work for everyone. But if you are recruiting for a "good" company and are confident that your people have more good to share than bad then go for it! In fact I would prefer "balanced" feedback ie both good and bad. Because HONESTY is key here. You want your audience to trust the person posting the message. If the message gives balanced feedback it comes off as more credible and will have bigger impact than a purely positive message.
